Well I can't believe that we are going into our third week of school. Where does the time fly! We have spent the past few weeks practicing a lot of oral french, introducing our classmates, and getting to know each other better.
Last week the students were given a part of speech, nouns, verbs, and we asked to give a short presentation defining and explaining the term, They also had to produce a class activity, be a worksheet or in class work. This week their homework will be what their classmates have created. I understand that a few students have had difficulty with accessing their homework. I will hopefully, learn very quickly how to add these links to my blog, to make it easier. I am sorry if this has caused any problems at home.
We are beginning the social studies curriculum, starting with the government, just in time for the elections. We had a discussion today about what they already knew about the parties and any candidates that are running. I have asked them to look out for commercials, or anything to do with the election, and to share them with the class. I encourage you to discuss anything relelvant with the election. They seem very keen to learn more. We are beginning with a brief history of Canada and the different types of governments that exsist in the world. I want the students to understand how fortunate we are as a Canadian to have the power to vote.
I am looking forward to meeting you all Thursday evening. I do teach three classes so I will be floating from room to room.
